Can you experts in Arizona and New Mexico tell me what the road conditions are on I40? From Google maps it looks like a lot of road construction. Is I40 in horrible shape and will it "shake your teeth out"?
Thanks for your input.

Only major work on 40 in AZ I know of is the 12 mile stretch from Parks
Lots of hills to climb and descend on I-40. Dropping down to I-10 is a lot flatter and will save fuel. Good Luck, TomC
I 40 is very smooth, as long as the bus is in the air from bouncing. As Cliff I don't know of any other construction to speak of. The road is very rough in places as they are on most interstates. Your biggest hill is coming out of Albuquerque, NM. Be safe and enjoy

Tom, wouldn't I-40 be a lot cooler than I-10?

Hi Gary, I-40 was in very bad shape for years, with rest stops closed for around 8 years or so. There are several places between Flagg and Kingman where bridges are under construction and are down to one thin lane and some are rough. Right Now, east of Seligman to Flagg are the worst sections and teeth rattling, 18 wheelers won't get out of the left lane, it's so bad. East of Flagg to Gallup, not as bad, but not good, the repaired sections are very smooth, lvmci...
AZ highways are getting in sad shape but they have gone to work on most.it's all politics about the funds red states didn't fare well for 8 years now it is their time :o
Yup, I-40 is usually cooler than I-10.
I generally choose the route that has more downhill runs then uphill runs. ;D
If they are the same on said route, and because I get bored easily, I try to take one route out and another one back. I don't like backtracking. There is too much country to see out there, providing my A/C is working properly and my engine does not overheat at those temps, which my Series 60 should not.
Yes I-40 is cooler because of higher elevation. But-you'll not be climbing hills on I-10. Good Luck, TomC
I 40 is our summer time hiway for trips and I 10 is for the winter trips
