Im trying to limit the amount of wood that termites would be interested and I wanted furring strips that did not conduct heat well.
I had a problem doing my last Airstream where the wood furring strips were so soft that the screws/finish nails kept pulling out.
I ended up using PVC lumber and it is straight, easy to cut, holds fasteners really well, and really nice to work with.
Its not cheap, but I think it will outlast me. - you can also glue them together with regular pvc cement which is fun.
Bought them online and they came in the UPS truck two days later.

Great idea. I used treated wood over foam sil sheet but your idea works perfect.

If you park it they will eat it.
Termites are actually a big problem in travel trailers like airstreams as well.
Every airstream I have rebuilt was riddled with termites.
not mine but a good example :

I see rust but no termites? What am I not seeing in this pic?

See the brown tubes hanging down from the bottom of the trailer, those are termites building a tube to the ground.
I used 1" steel square tubing to frame my interior. Will never break. What is a termite?

Those are called shelter tubes. The termites basically eat cellulous (wood, paper, cloth, & mud etc.)debris and poop out these tubes to get around. They need two things to survive, Water or moisture and the above.
This might be interesting for folks building partition walls or replacing the interior roof panels...

The PVC furring strips are super easy to work with.
I am pre-drilling through the strip into the ribs then running a 2" SS SPAX screw through.
