What's the difference? I'm planning on picking up one of these and just want to be sure I pick up the appropriate model. I know one stands for "mobile" and the other "renewable energy" which I'm guessing is solar, but for my bus application I'm merely wanting to use it like this:
1. Feed from battery bank to my 120 volt panel when boon-docking
2. Feed from my generator when needed for A/C etc
3. Feed from power pole when parked at a 50amp site.
4. Hybrid feed from battery bank/power socket when I only have access to a 20amp outlet/generator/battery bank.
Please help me do this right....

About 400.00 more for the RE... Maybe a bigger charger. couldn't see a difference in them.....
Do what I did and call Glen Darby at Magnum direct. He can make sure you get exactly what you need. After all, they are my neighbors...

Looks like the RE model now days is their hybrid MSH and has 2 AC inputs
for connecting separtely your generator and the grid. Also looks to have new options of 5 stage
battery charge versus 3.
They mention coupling, so using both batteries and another source to bolster electricity needed.
Good day
Floyd
Floyd, they are both hybrid inverters, but I can't tell any other difference other than price as Dave pointed out. I think I'll take the advice and call glen. Thanks for making that info easy and handy :)

I just did some better homework!
I gave some differences for the previous models MS.
What i just started to read is the M series in the hybrid msh has a switchable neutral.
Floyd
I would call Glen as well.
It seems that the "M" series was made for Rv's and Marine use, according to the website.
or you could go with this old school and have one that does everything you want and free shipping.

I wanted to suggest the same thing, bit I was afraid I would be put down for recommending an old inverter. My Trace SW2512MC has never let me down and it has been running constantly for 25 years. Just one hickup when I fried the display with static electricity, but I was still able to use it until I got the new screen. Parts and repair shops are still around.

The old Traces were the best inverter ever made IMO even the modified sine was almost a pure sine
Scott my Magnum MSH as Floyd said is a 3 stage smart charger 100 AMP and the RE is a 5 stage smart charger and that is the difference as well as it looks like you can stack the RE but mine can not be stacked. HTH
Dave5Cs
if your house batteries are AGM you can't use an equalizing charger...i was told. so, normally EQ is 4th stage...what is 5th stage ?
I to am curious with the options for charging. I wondered if lithum type batteries are in these choices.
The neutral bond switching option, I'm interested in anyones thoughts as well.
Good day to ya
Floyd
I believe all the Magnum Hybrids have the NBS.
I have the same Trace inverter/charger as Geoff. It too is 24 years old and always plugged in. Not a single thing gone wrong. I did install an auxiliary computer fan in my electrical cabinet to help cool the inverter when it is charging. It runs all my new gadgets including my computer and digital flat panel TV. Only thing, the microwave buzzes and takes longer to cook and my fan on the cook top runs slower on inverter. Good Luck, TomC
So I actually may want to stack someday so I am thinking the RE version might be a better fit. Let me check out that eBay link....

This may help in the stacking of magnum ms4024 inverters, i just ran on to this so if your powering your third world country with batteries and the like this may be your answer for quiet time after dark ;)
