Hi all,
Does anyone have the part number for brake shoes and linings for the MCI-9? The parts places are quoting me over $300 for JUST the linings per wheel! I can do better than that.
Question why would the parts number change the price? How did you find out how much it was if you didn't have the parts number?
I would suggest you talk with a big truck shop, and just take them in and set a top n bottom on the counter. So they can do a measure up, as 15x7 for example. They can determine what you have.
Meritor and others have many linings they used in years past. Their books or the truck shop personell can help with that specfically. I think using that oem number maywell get the factory replacement, this can include their cut as well.

Bus brake shoes are more expensive than a truck brake shoe but 300 per wheel is a little steep,I got mine from MCI for under a $150.00 per wheel

I went to a big truck brake rebuilder, and they said to would be this much. They didnt give me to part number. Im trying to call Luke to see if he has any brakes in stock, but none of his phones are working. I'm hoping he hasn't retired!
You are going to need to measure the drums because the pad blocks come in different thickness like STD ,1X,2X or 3X each X represents 1/16th in thickness fwiw

Indeed I did. Its 14.5" ID. I finally got though to Luke, and he says $200 per wheel, which includes shoes, liners, and bolts. They come non assembled.
Well, now I understand why dad kept three boxes of each...in the house.
He told mom that she was not allowed to complain or move them...end of discussion. Now I can explain why. ;D
