Title: Jake setting
Post by: sixtyseven on July 03, 2017, 10:22:21 PM
Just finished installing new turbo, blower, and governor.   I have everything set except the Jake clearance.    I read on some of the posts that the jakes should be set with the engine up to temperature, but on the Jacobs website where it tells how to set them there is no mention of engine temp.    Can I set them cold ?   Does it really matter ?

OK thanks.    I noticed all of the bolt heads have a  "J" stamped in them,   (except one).   Is there any significance to that ?   Like maybe indicating a drilled oil passage.   Or should I not be worried about the one oddball ?

I would pop that one out and be sure it is drilled all Jake Brake oil bolts do have the J stamped on the head fwiw,if the oddball has a oil passage don't worry about it,Jake bolts also have a 1 inch long shoulder that fits the housing where a standard bolt will not have that
