When SOD but the motor in my 05 eagle they used a prevost right angle box that sits in the left rear corner with belts to the motor and to the fan. The box has a longer output housing. Do any of the prevost guys know what box that is and what year prevost they came out of? Did prevost mount the right angle box in the corner at one time or have they always been on the fan? Also do you know where I can get one? There was some talk on another site about not being able to get some prevost box. I would like to have one on my shelf if mine goes out.
Thank You Wayne
Gary at B&B has some lol if he can find them give him a call his old number goes to his cell now.Wayne it is a Superior Gear box Prevost # 55068 or Superior # 0525-03 HTH I know a 97 models uses that box, they are manufactured close to you in MO
Thank You Clifford I will look into it

I have one Wayne. I think it is vintage about 2001. Been on my parts shelf for quite a while so will probably need new seals, easy to replace. I can email you the picture of it or of the page out of the manual if you want.
Thanks Mark I will look at it and give you a call

Or convert to hydraulic drive?
A RE school bus being scrapped could be an inexpensive source of everything needed to convert to a hydraulic fan drive - high-capacity pump with priority flow divider valve assembly for the PS, solenoid directional control valve and cavity block for modulating the fan speed, fan motor itself, reservoir, filter.
John
His drive type has worked for years on a Eagle why would he want to convert to a hydraulic system, belt driven fans are hard to beat IMO
I have no interest in changing to hydraulic. Thank You Mark for the picture out of your manual. That box has an upper half and a lower half. The box I have is a box with the shaft housings bolted to it. You said that box is in buses around 2000 that is about the time my engine install was done. That being said I would think my box is older than that. My box was used. Does anyone have any idea about an older box out of a prevost. I would like to have the same box so I don't have to change anything.
Thank You Wayne
I am pretty sure Gary has the angle drive box you are looking for Wayne
Thank You Clifford I will call him today
Wayne
Wayne, I also have one that was installed in my Eagle that I no longer need. Call me if you want more info. 702-286-3950
I am beginning to question if my box is a prevost. The one Bob has is similar to the one Mark has except Bob's has three shafts. Maybe my box is way older than Bob's or Mark's or it is not a prevost. If I can't get this figured out I think I will change it to a hub city box that I know I can get a replacement. Does anyone have any ideas if prevost used a different box on older busses?
Thank You Wayne
Wayne the older Prevost used a 90 angle drive at the fan hub driven by a belt driven shaft.May be you have a Eagle angle drive box.Southern Oregon would take the miter box and mount there using 2 pulleys when David did re powers you have a photo. You could have the angle box Dave Galey used I tried find and post a photo of his but no luck.Maybe our leader here Gary Hatt could post a photo of his angle drive I think is a Eagle angle drive
I will try and get a picture. I will see if I can figure out how to post it here.
Thank You
Wayne

LOL you are in for a treat I gave up a long time ago on posting pictures here, the guys with Tap Talk have it made
Hey Wayne, When I post pictures I make them 800 x 600, that's about perfect.
Does your box look similar to this ? If so it is a Boston gear.
That is the same box Eagle used at the fan hub too on some models ,I tried to post a picture of that model no luck ???
Joe Thank you http://i714.photobucket.com/albums/ww149/Rustyschell/65581663-00e0-4a84-b7b5-ee31ab102312.jpg (http://i714.photobucket.com/albums/ww149/Rustyschell/65581663-00e0-4a84-b7b5-ee31ab102312.jpg)
Did this work
Wayne
Wayne, that is a miter box from a Eagle with the 6v engine the ones from a 8v engine will not work for you, there should plenty of those around and cheap ;D
Thank You Clifford.
Does anyone have one or know where to get one.
Wayne
Wayne don't be concern if it has 3 shafts the shafts are easy to remove and plate over like your is now Eagle used both if the 6V engine had a gear driven alternator then it was 2 shafts. If you are in no hurry give me time and I'll find one for you lol you don't want to buy it from Ed or John I can tell you ;D

Did this work?

Yeah, it worked fine. Also, you might want to try the "IMG" link:

When you find one, would you please post info on the manufacturer and part number (or at least model designation)? Id sure like to have that info in my "components" file. It looks like that miter drive might be useful in a lot of applications. Thanks!
Thank You Clifford. I am in no hurry the one I have is fine for now. I am too anal about things like that. I try and be prepared if things go south on the road. Now I am kind of glad this came up so I have it figured out and not in a panic on the road somewhere.
Thank You Wayne
My 93/94 Prevost has the 90 degree belt drive fan BUT it is on the left side (DS) of the bus..
Bigred are you saying your prevost has the same box as in my picture?
Thank You wayne
Nope! Does not even look close !! Tried to upload a pic but could't get it done!
Thank you Rhet. Looks like it is an Eagle box. Will wait for someone to stumble across a used one. I will call Jefferson to see if they have them just so I know where to get one if needed.
Thank You Wayne
