For small quantities of media blasting, the best media I've found is sugar. It's as good as sand but biodegradable and non hazardous.

Seriously tho, what happens if you get any moisture at all in your blasting system? Wouldn't it gum everything up?

I use an all in one hopper and head from Harbor Freight, dismantle and wash it after use then by the time several weeks/months/years have passed, its dry again. I only blast on dry days too, followed immediately by a blast of air to clear the sugar off the surfaces then slap antitrust primer on.

I work outside. The ants clear away the mess.
