Title: Need bus mechanic in Denver for prepurchase inspection
Post by: windtrader on June 04, 2017, 12:07:55 PM
I'm looking at a bus in Denver and need qualified bus mechanic to inspect it.

Wayne Roads at Colorado Coach & Bus Works was recommended and seems very knowledgeable and a bus guy.

Other recommendations?

Don

edited due to Dave's response, maybe post not clear enough or he hit the bottle early today or maybe it was me. LOL. Do tour companies perform bus inspections for private parties?

Gray Line Tours
Denver, CO
(303) 289-2841
Open 24 hours

These are 2 of the oldest companies in Colorado.
Arrow Bus Lines is the other.

Don -

Normally, no.

But if you call and ask for the shop foreman, you'll get an answer, because some companies allow "outside work", other's don't.

VIA Adventures in Merced will do chassis inspections, but not house systems, at their affiliated shop.  I've had my MC-5C serviced there.

FWIW & HTH. . .

;)

No surprise old 2 stroke bus mechanics are a small gaggle. The bus mechanic who worked on the bus I'm interested in owned a shop in CO that was sold to Grace Coach Lines which was bought by Dakota Bus Service (Dakota Trailways). The other main mechanic stayed on through the buyouts and works at Grace. He's interested to inspect the bus so if all goes well I'll have both original mechanics inspecting it. Perseverance pays. The hunt goes on. Stay tuned

I know Travis who owns Dakota Trailways! (we did time together on Hurricane Katrina Relief)
He is a great guy. Get me the info on the bus you are looking at and I'll call him and ask what he personally knows about it and if there are any records for it.

Thanks BK,

The bus has no history with Dakota Trailways or any of the operators it purchased. It turns out the link to the coach is via one of the mechanics worked on the coach back in the day is currently employed by Dakota. I'm planning to use him on a private, not work related basis. Thanks for the offer. Don
