My Prevost has these nice large lights in the bays however,I have one problem--------I haven't figured out how to turn them on !! There is no switch that I can find on the dash ,on the lights or on the wall,s of the bay,s that is marked "Bay Lights". Can someone please tell me what I am missing here ?? There are times these light's would really be handy!!
I don't know what CC did but the bay lights come on automatically when the master switch is on and the bay door is open.
They work from the chassis batteries not the house batteries on a Prevost, but again CC did some weird electrical stuff

Thanks Cliff :I don't know if I have checked when the the master switch was on but I will .Yes that CC engineering is is a cluster with a capital C.
It took me a while after I first purchased the bus to figure out that they only come on when the master switch is on too so don't feel too bad ;D FWIW= I now have a case of 24V chinese made bulbs because I was convinced the bulbs were all burnt out for the longest time. ;D

This is kind of like "Does.the refrigerator light at on when you close the door?". I would think there must be a grounding switch somewhere where the door closes to activate the lights.

My MC-5C has a button-like switch in the top corner of the baggage bay that's activated when you open the bay door. One of the door's arms presses against the button to switch off the lights when the door is closed.
They are not wired into the ignition, but are always "live" as long as the main chassis battery cut-off is on.

Hello: I have a 92 XL and it has 24 Volt lamps, I made the mistake of not checking/assumed they were 12V and replaced some of them with a nice LED and when I powered them on, the smoke was released from all my new LEDs - Dah - some models had voltage changes in some of the exterior lighting, I failed to verify, lesson learned. My original bases were all cracked, so I went to NAPA for replacements. Yes master switch has to be on, small paddle type switches on each door, many of mine were bad and had to be replaced, but that has to do with warning light on dash board for bay door open warning. best of luck Gerry H
magnetic proximity switches are being used in newer coaches.
Round plastic button, sized between a quarter and a silver dollar, the ones I noticed.
happy coaching!

Only on the engine compartment door Geoff!! I know that switch is bad .but on the rest of the Bay Doors there is no switches of any kind .They evidently work of the locks.

Mine is a CC and they did all kind of crazy things with the lighting as far as 12v and 24v .This is one of the main battles I have been fighting with mine !!! I quickly found out that a VOM is a valuable asset when I start changing bulbs especially if it is one I haven't changed before.

Okay, stuff a kid into the bay and ask them if the light went off when the door closed.

Tried them with both (24v&12v) switches on,even turned the house power on but nothing got the lights going so I have a problem some where in the circuitry .
I have a 91 Prevost XL. When the master switch is on and the bay door is open the bay lights do light up. If you look at the swing arms of the bay doors, there is a small reed switch attached to a black box about 2" square on one of the swing arms in each bay. Check to make sure the the reed switch opens and closes, there is one wire going to the black box and one going to the light. Use your VOM to see where power stops and you will know if it is the black box/reed switch or the bulbs in your lights. If nothing either place then check the front breaker box near the driver. I don't recall the breaker # but hopefully you still have the laminated legend card in place that Prevost put there with all the wiring descriptions.

Well Guy's; I have been snake bitten by Country Coach again!!! After doing another search for a Switch /switches I finally found the culprit hidden among (of all places) the PB switches beside the passenger seat right next to the front bumper release !! Go figure!!
At least you got them figured out and working. Nothing worse than trying to hold a flashlight at night with your hands full of stuff and the bugs circling your head and you go to swat at them and knock yourself senseless with the flashlight. ??? I keep a good supply of 24V bulbs on hand now! ;)
