My B500 blows the fuse to the shift pad,I removed the pad from the circuit and it still blows the fuse.I get no codes with the ProLink or the flashing codes only message is "Retarder Engaged" on the dash.Any idea where to start looking, relays are new thanks
Do you have a wtec 2 or 3 ?
Jack
Jack,I pretty sure it was updated to lll according to the reader when the outfit in FL replaced the ECU and B500 in 2011 or about that time frame, the friggn Allison manuals are hard to figure out for me on a B500
Clifford you know I know nothing about these Trans but is there a way to manually disengage the retarder and then try it. Maybe that is failing the system and blowing the fuse? Ok tell me no thats no it now, LOL Just trying for ya.. ;D
Dave
LOL and Scott thinks he has problems with gauges not working ;D ;D ;D ;D
Does anyone ever just get in a bus and go??? I swear !! I am to old for all this drama!!!!

LOL I did for 15 years when I owned a Eagle with a mechanical 8v92 and 740 Allison transmission
Now I remember why we got rid of it ;D I no longer have to worry about things, if the bus won't start...
Sorry about the troubles. Have you called MCI tech support? They are usually really helpful.
After 3 days of chasing wires I know what the MCI letters really stands for
"May Cause Insanity"
It could worse John if you and Steve had let the maintenance go unattended

I did for a while and then gotcha.
Hope you get figured out, Cliff. Is a Allison Shop visit in your near future. There ain't no chance for us Mullets when it stumps the Smart Guys.
Have you tried picking Don's brain on it Clifford?
;D BK ;D
Cliff this may not help, but when my retarder got retarded, I disabled it at the air solenoid. But we're talking different trannys

Just jump the fuse and watch where the smoke comes out. That's where the problem is. Lol
Fuses are so over rated aren't they? ;D

So are the shift pads and B500 ECU control units plus being expensive
Did you find the problem? Spent a day along the road in Oh with my L10 when the ECM died. I carry a spare, install or home on the hook. Made it to Utah and back, now home. Did a lot of looking and found no problems.
Unplug the shift pad, replace the fuse, turn on power and see if the fuse holds.
Jack
I believe I found the problem the retarder switch is melted I saw sparks when I tried a new fuse just waiting on MCI to send me a new switch, now to figure out why it melted ???.Jack I did unplug the pad and it still blew the fuse that was the 1st thing I did
Maybe a loose wire on the switch? Bad switch? Does it run a relay?
awe ....... m c i .... switch's . I remember replacing a jake switch from them at $ 80
I wanted to replace them all ( switch's ) but never could find that kind of $$$$
dave
Cliff did you figure this out?
Did the switch fix it?
