Title: Metric tyres
Post by: Zephod on May 20, 2017, 08:46:41 PM
My bus originally came with 9-20F tyres. It was upgraded to Dayton hubs with 10R22.5 tyres.

I'm not sure whether the speedo in the transmission was updated or not. I'm not 100% sure how it works. I'd imagine either a magnetic relay with a magnet attached to a spinning disk or some kind of points system.

I do know there was a strange additional speedo on the prop shaft with magnets well out of place and wiring that looked very hillbilly.

My question is... which two metric sizes would equal the 9-20F and the 10R22.5 given the Dayton hubs?

9-20F or as it used to be called- a 900 (for 9.00) -20 F rated was the tube type tire. The 10R-22.5 is the same size tire in tubeless. Metric would be 255/80R-22.5. All those sizes are not as popular as the next bigger sized that are used on big rigs, which would be either a 275/80R-22.5 or a 295/75R-22.5. The big determining factor is the rim size. Do you have a 7.5" x 22.5 or 8.25" x 22.5" ?  Good Luck, TomC
