We watched the whole thing and for me the movie trailer was enough. On the other hand, I could watch Lucy in the Long, Long Trailer another 50 times. Must be my addled old age showing through.

I haven't seen either movie for many years. I remember it took much modification to build that bus. Don't worry about showing your age. Thanks to the internet, there is really no such thing as an era when it comes to entertainment since just about every movie, TV program, or music is out there.
Was this the same movie they used Ernest Borgnine's Prevost in?????

I remember Lucille Ball's Long Trailer, but I missed The Big Bus. I wonder what the reviews were like.
I never even heard of that movie but I just did a Google search on it, and found a couple of interesting things. One was that the bus was street legal, which I find hard to believe; and the other was that there was an article about it in Bus World, which used to be published by Mike Kadletz (SP?).

The Big Bus was the first film I ever saw in a cinema! I'd have been aged six at the time.

Thanks for posting that article Jeremy. I remember reading that now too in that they had to have 2 drivers so it must have been quite tedious to set the thing up for each shot. Leave it to the producers.
40 years ago, they thought all buses were supposed to look like that. I'm sure that idea was kicked around but not practical market value. There's not even an interest in premium rail or air travel with all of those amenities but markets have a way of changing over time. Charter buses may not have bowling alleys or small taverns but they have many features that weren't heard of 40 years ago.
Is it possible that thing survived, maybe in some museum or a truly nutty busser has it somewhere?

Jeremy's article says that it was scrapped before the article was written (many years ago).
I have heard complaints about buses that have the driver in front of the front wheels and how it causes misjudgements for the driver when clearing low obstacles like sidewalks. This "bus" takes the cake. I don't remember which website claimed this bus was "street legal" as I reported above but the specs definitely put "Cyclops" out of revenue or private legality. I guess getting it scrapped was the only choice as it could never been a Queen Mary for tourists (except for Bus Nuts).
