Ideas on restoring this lovely logo?  Sand/Paint?

Sand working up from 600 to 800 grit maybe ever 1000 grit then try polishing it with green rogues. Probably aluminum alloy of some kind.

The imbeded lines were painted black in mine, lvmci...
