I think I have damaged my DDEC II on a 6V92ta of 1989 vintage. I was moving my coach to have some work done and a positive battery cable shorted to ground and the coach shut down and will not start. It trys to start and has black smoke but quits as soon as I let off the start button. I checked the two fuses going to the DDEC. I also disconnect the negative battery cables for 2hrs and it still wouldn't start. Any suggestions?
Is there somewhere that specializes on DDEC's or truck computers?

I think you lost prime, do you have any codes, fwiw battery disconnect on a DDEC ll does nothing
black smoke means its getting fuel
There are the two 15A fuses for each bank of injectors, and a separate 5A (I think. I'm in MX now so I can't check their exact ratings now!) fuse for the ECM. My bus also has a DDEC power relay triggered by the main ignition solenoid - if it doesn't work the ECM won't get power. What else does or does not work?

If the check engine light is on and goes off in a few seconds he has power,he said it was trying to start and with blowing black smoke I would re prime the engine first because they do blow black smoke when not getting a solid stream of fuel for the injectors
John, I have 2 20amp fuses that I checked that I believe supply the DDEC. To power everything down including the DDEC, I took the cables off the Neg post on the batteries. I gave it 2 hrs to dissipate and upon re connection I had the same attempt to start.
My engine has a factory installed either injector, but the either made NO difference in how the engine tried to start, but would not run.
The check engine lights and stop engine lights cycle normally upon turning the run switch on. I haven't tried to see if there are any codes.

Has anyone had experience with Hi-Tech Electro ECM in Irving, Tx or ECM King in Santa Fe, Tx for DDEC II repair?
I have used Pittman (ECM King) in the past, now I use (DCS) Diesel Control in Chadwick PA 412-327-9400 better prices and faster turn around but I don't if they still work on a DDEC ll any longer you could check
Thank you for the info on DCS. I'm going to give them a call.
