Title: Battery Load Testing ??
Post by: scanzel on March 31, 2017, 03:50:54 AM
I think my 8 AGM batteries may need load testing individually. When using a load tester do I need to disconnect each battery for a test +/-. What load tester is recommended that won't break the bank ? ???

Charge and test each one separate, you can buy a good analog load tester for under 50 bucks, the digital is nice but mine didn't last I am now back to the old analog type a OTC 3180 100 amp I paid 30 bucks for,HF sells one for around 20 bucks but I never used one of theirs

Gary at B&B Coachworks in Vegas suggested I buy one at Harbor Freight too so he thinks they are okay. As always when working with batteries, wear eye protection. I blew up a battery in my bus last year and it is not a pretty sight. Thankfully I was not leaning over it when it blew.

This way you can even check each cell separately.

I bought one off HF (or Northern Tool - forget which, same imported carp) website.  It works but the clamps are super flimsy.  I "baby" it when I'm using it and I hope that it keeps working.
