Title: Scrapping a bus
Post by: daveola on March 03, 2017, 12:55:17 PM

I might need to scrap an MCI9 after pulling the engine/xmission.

1) Any thoughts on what I should pull from the bus before it gets scrapped?  What's of enough value, easy enough to remove and able to sell quickly enough?  (I don't have lots of storage to hold anything long term)  (And anyone need anything in particular?)

2) How do I find a wrecker who will take a bus around here?  Land is expensive in the Bay Area, so space is generally an issue.  I've heard from some people that you have to pay someone to take a non-running bus, whereas others have told me that you can get $1000 because of the aluminum/stainless steel.  So that's a big difference in price...

Just found a place that will actually pay to take it if I remove all the fluids, and the pay will probably cover the cost of the tow, so that's a win.

It's $100/ton, has anyone seen better prices than that?

Pull switches, relays, wiper motors, washer pumps all that system. Headlamps, tail lights, interior light fixtures, instrument cluster. Basically all the stupid $#!% that people need to replace.

Doors, trim, windshields,

I live in Sacramento and might be interested in some parts.

Anyone with a 2 piece door on a 5C? The door will fit, that is what I used.
