what do I need to put dual exhaust on a 4106?8v71thanks jim
I use different manifolds with straight outlets and go out on the transmission end,to much work and bends to go out the radiator side for me on the top side, the lower head is easy
An easy way to increase exhaust performance is to cut the stock muffler in half around the girth,,remove the 3 inch OUTLET pipe and replace it with a 4 inch pipe for a 25 percent increase in flow..The present inlet is 7 inches..>>>Dan
It is dumb the way GM restricted the exhaust flow on those buses you have 2 -3 inch manifolds feeding a collector and a muffler with a 3 in exhaust pipe makes no sense when the 4104 with a 6L71 some had dual exhaust
Much easier to switch to single 5" system. Good Luck, TomC

Not the same sound ;D nothing sounds as good as a old Eagle with the 8v71 and the standard dual exhausts sorta like a Harley sound unique. The GM 4106 is not that hard to install duels except for the mufflers location
so cliff where do I get the straight exhaust? and what type of muffles. I am going for the sound. thanks jim

I'll check my stash and may have one I can send you, you can get by using the upper manifold on the top but the crazy angle on the lower manifold is almost impossible to use.I used the Aero muffler like the AT3030 or AT 5050 the resonators are easier but they are a little loud like the AR30 resonator especially with Jakes ::) ps that long sweeping pipe that goes from the top manifold to the collector will come in real handy cutting pieces from it to get around the transmission
The nice thing about split dual exhausts is you can immediately tell when you have a problem on that side of the engine. My bus came with 2 into one 5" exhaust with a dedicated area for the muffler (between the engine and axle) and an up exhaust that I can see from the driver's seat (very important to me for proper engine operation). Since I turbo'd my engine, single exhaust is only used. 5" is big enough for 8V-92TA. My muffler it a Donalson oval 5" same side in and out rated for turbo. It only has a single baffle going down the middle to split the sides. Quiet enough, but still puts out a nice tone. Good Luck, TomC

Amen. ;)
Before going to a turbo motor changed the original exhaust to duel 3" Magna flows..sounded great... now straight 5" with a baffle sounds even better ...rdw
We love our dual exhaust especially when in tunnels and alongside of vertical rock walls - cause it rocks! :-)
thanks every one for the replies. I sent cliff a email to see if he has the straight exhaust. so not sure which way to go yet. jim
All I have left Jim are the ones with a turn 90 bend on the end check and see if you can make one work and I will ship it to you
