Does anybody know if the wheel studs on a 62 pd4106 are pressed in or threaded? From the outside view there appears to be a nut on the back side of the stud. Got new aluminum wheels and the studs are too short.
They have a nut on the back but most of the time they need to be pressed out too.fwiw the price of those studs will make you heart rate rise ;D
They are pressed, just put longer studs on for the aluminium rims.
I drove mine out with a large hammer and a large brass punch,, installed the same way,,,that was 14 years ago and still no problem.>>>Dan

It all depends on how many times the studs have been changed over the years, some fall out
I recently pulled mine out by putting an over sized box end wrench on the stud (or an over sized nut would work too), and pulling the stud by cranking the wheel nut against it. A few firm taps with a big hammer from the back helps too, careful not to damage the threads.

I drove them out by placing a brass hammer against the stud be hitting it with a short handle two puund sledge after removing the nuts on the backside. I did this with the hub's off the coach btw.

looks like you got 2 different answers to your question ! ??? You should only have to change the studs on the front. If the existing rear studs have 1.25" of threads, that's enough.
Are you planning to use steal or aluminum inners ?
I am putting all 6 aluminum wheels on. My son got them for me for Christmas. Just now getting down to taking off the front wheels and tomorrow I should be taking off the drums and then the hubs. Then I'll see what I'm really up against. Thanks all for the answers.
I finally got the front wheels done. Luke at US Coach came thru once again. Knew exactly what I needed for the longer studs. Went ahead and put in new bearings and new brake linings. The cost did go up for my free tires and rims. It will be well worth the money and the long hours of beating a hammer against a very immovable object.(studs)
