I am on first major voyage and was running strong and smooth. Coming into port last night I lost the digital gear indicator on my Stone Bennett LA2-12. I parked, shifted manually into neutral and started it this morning. Can't get shifter engaged. Toggling either way does nothing . Air builds to 110, then bleeds off to 90 or so then builds back to 110. No shifting at all. Any suggestions or offerings ? I appreciate what help you can offer. Thanks.
If the LA is blank you lost the power supply only 2 wires on the back that supply the power a ground and a hot lead from there it goes to 2 relays in the S/B harness.
You should have a inline fuse some where on the supply wire,It is not going to shift without DC power no matter how much air pressure one has.
it is a electric over air system the DC opens the valve to shift into the selected range if you can get the LED-(LA )panel gear selector to light up it should shift
good luck
I was in Bakersfield when the problem arose. I called United Transmission in San Bernardino. They put me in touch with their Stone Bennett expert Donnie. He walked me through some troubleshooting over the phone and determined that I should manually shift it into drive and work my way over the grapevine to see him. You can only guess how fun the grapevine was without manual shift and regulating my speed down the backside with brakes only. I saw increased temps on forward brakes, but made it. Upon tracing wires, I found that PO routed shift cable over drive shaft and it sagged enough to shear it in half. The good news is Donnie promptly met me upon arrival, helped diagnose problem, instructed me on how to repair and let me work it in their yard. They offered me free use of a lift if needed and helped me check out the repair. I offered to pay, buy them beer or tip. All offers were refused. Donnie put in a good two or more hours of assistance and got me on my way for nothing. I can't express enough my appreciation or thanks for such a kind offerring. He and United Transmission Exchange were outstanding great people as are those who helped me so far. Today is the first day of not driving or fixing something. I am now enjoying a poolside day in sunny Palm Springs. Happy Thanksgiving all.
Yep Donnie is a good dude
