Title: BCO: The rally is over, Hammer Down.
Post by: boxcarOkie on November 19, 2016, 06:48:42 AM
Let me be the first.  I have to admit, it was a nice little rally boys and girls, I enjoyed your company immensely and even learned a trick or two along the way.

For instance, now If I'm using WVO for fuel, I can I also use it for salads and to grease the fry pan.  I am fairly sure that one won't be on the Food Channel any time soon.  A bag of ice in Nevada costs $4 and they even smile when they ring it up.

It is permissible to wear brown shoes and black socks and make statements such as:

"Yesterday while searching the net, I saw this coach on Craigslist, he wants $15,000 for it and says it has a brand new motor, transmission, tires, and a full set of 8D AGM batteries.
Oh, and the 20KWH generator is new.
Do you think he would take $5,000?
I would buy it if the price of diesel went down to .89 per gallon."

No, wait, there is more (there is always more).

For instance, someone please explain to me again, why it is that I need to buy a Jeep?  That is a beautiful Scienic-Cruiser, you do know that if I did it I could have done it better.  Can a propane Onan be converted to diesel?  Why do I need to change tires after only 16 years when I still have tread left?

It is good to be hammered down on the slab, where the line of cars seems to go on forever and every other vehicle is a truck driven by a poorly trained monkey.

The Road ... Where you squeeze into a Mom & Pop convenience store for the cheap fuel.  And the nozzle is smaller than a Windex bottle and you spend 58 minutes standing next to the pump in the cold New Mexico wind.

Plenty of time to contemplate why California cars evidently are being sold without turn signals and if all you Left-Coasters got home alright.  To wonder why in Arizona a lot of folks are driving after dark without the benefit of headlights.  Why a sandwich and a cup of coffee is almost eight dollars at a truck stop.  Where some of these guys buy their hats and if they have mirrors in the coach or at home.

And finally ... Which one of you pecker-heads took the last Bear Claw on Saturday morning?

The NRG rally is now tucked back into a mental file under memories.  A good time and plenty of friends to share it with.  It is a great day to be alive, why all the days cannot be that good is beyond me.  But alas, all good things come to an end.

Happy Hour has expired.

Now I find myself running hot and heavy East Bound, six on the floor and the other one out the door!  Showing off in the Smart Aleck Lane and headed for Houston.

It's a tough job, but someone has to do it.

Watch those Right-Handers

Well, Don -

I'd like to say that I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation around your little portable campfire at the Dam Rally.

And just to clarify again, I'm not a "foamer!"   ;D

Pat says to tell you she's finally ready to roll her eyes again from some of your stories!

Things like that are what keep our fingers pounding away on the keyboards, eh?

Talk to you soon. . .

I would personally like to thank Don and his wonderful Wife for putting so many L>E>D>'s on their coach because soon we will all be able to afford them. He is bringing down the price for us. Being that he was in the train business he has put a "Boxcar load" of them on his Bus. Had a great time at the Dam Rally and met a lot of nice people.
Don you really have to stop giving my wife the Finger every time you see her!......... ;D

Will answer them all right now, with one fell swoop.  Why?  Cuz I want to, and it bugs the **** out of one guy here.

Sounds good-hope to see you in Pahrump.

Tom, in order for us to attend, we would have to spend over $800 in fuel alone, just to get there and return.  You guys out on the west-coast are privy to a unique area of the country, and it is close to where most of you live.  We on the other hand, live smack-dab in the middle of the country, and it makes it a long haul to attend these things.

Pahrump is more of a "social hour" or "family reunion" atmosphere, not so much a bus meet thing.  Which would kill it for me, even if it was closer to where we live.

There will be some good people there, and we would like to mingle with them, but it is not practical for us.  Everything that will be done at Pahrump I can do in my own backyard, and it will not cost me $1,300.00 which is good for me.

There is nothing to do there and sitting on the back row feeding the host's ego, is just not my bag.  We won't be there Tom.  As much as I would like to attend, it just isn't in the cards.

thanks for attending Don with beautiful Yoko, I think it might have been my Italian Greyhound, Iszy that swiped the donut when no one was looking, Tom, lvmci...

It t'werent the dog ... it was ... well, I dunno who it t'was.

This is one of the prime reasons that we travel during the daylight hours Dan.  That, and of course, the age thing.  There are certain times of the day it does present a problem, but if you are styling on the slab, you need your chrome and the glitz, it is just a right of passage.

When you see Mike, tell him the O'rourke curse worked.  He asked me "how is it I travel all over the place and never break anything?"

Well I broke a fuel line and lost half a tank of diesel before I discovered it.  I guess you are supposed to check these here fuel gauges from time to time huh?

Where is my flashlight?

Foamers and other mysteries of life.

For those who are not familiar with the railroad profession, a "Foamer" is railroad slang for a train buff or rail enthusiast.

My finger was injured in a roadside repair over in Texas, and Dave's wife nursed it for me.  The great finger incident of two-thousand-sixteen has healed and it is back to a somewhat beat up, scarred normal.

Thanks for all your well written replies.

Not much in Oklahoma to amuse bus people, and I would not know where to begin entertaining and providing for the multitudes of peeple that would suddenly be in my backyard.  I prefer to be called Don, do not want to be confused with that other guy y'know.

Hey Don! I'll pay ya $200.00 to come sit in your backyard

Have you ever seen my backyard?  The gate is open Gunner, cash, check or M.O. would be fine.

Did the patch job hold on the return line ?

Yeah it did Clifford, all the way, no leaks, drips or errors.  Did have a fuel filter problem and had to change them out in order to get going again.  What a trip!  Temp's dropped to below 30*, the inverter is now toast, had the genset stop briefly.  And then there was the matter of the gnarly clerk in the truckstop, but we will not go into that.

Box car are you the reason the fuel pump went out on the Greydog in Ashfork? We enjoyed visiting with you.

I surely hope not Ed, I do not want to be a curse on anyone.  The pleasure was all mine and maybe next year we can hook up and find some more time to visit.  We are pulling Seattle thru Salt Lake City and Vegas.

I freely admit "I must have done something right at the Damn Rally, I picked up another ignore, up to seven now."  Five more and I will have the full set!

As for your fuel pump? ... well get out the coveralls pard, and get 'er done.

Nipton Inn?

Jack, I would find some more betta place to stay, man-man, I don't want THAT outside my window anywhere.
