Back to belts
Since the belt on my 5a was a C106, that's what I ordered. When it came today, my thought was why should I run the old belt and store the new one as a spare. I figured it would be best the other way around. So I went out to make quick work of this belt change. But surprise, surprise, that was not to be. It took me several hours. I had to loosen everything I could find to be able to get the drive to wiggle enough for me to struggle rolling the old belt off and the new one on with serious coaxing with a screwdriver. I am therefore wondering if I really should have had a longer belt.
I know that the belt tension system on these buses are not likely to be original, so it is likely that there are many variations in our equipment. But I am curious to see what size others are using. Also, if you think there is some secret bolt that I may have missed that could have made the job reasonable.
