Hi!
I want to take out the middle window on my PD4106 and was wondering if someone knows the exact dimension of that pieces of aluminum sheet?
It's 7'4" x 3' something.
I haven't take the roof rain rail off yet and don't know home much that sheet is sticking underneath the roof line. Can someone here tell me?
Do you have a recommendation as to what rivets to buy and what sealer to seal between the aluminum sheets once I get the new one.
How thick of an aluminum sheet should I get to replace the original?
Secondly, does someone have a picture of the siding without the window and window frame in it?
I want know how much metal holds the window frame/seal in place.
I haven't had the time to take the window/frame out.
Thanks!
Don't even think of using aluminum, I did my two center windows in 16 gauge steel and bonded it with Sikaflex,,,no rivets,, 19 years ago...You will have a terrible time with bulging from temp. changes with aluminum, not with steel..>>>Dan
If you forget the shape of the window and measure between the existing siding laps, you can place a rectangular piece of 16 gauge sheet metal (of your choice) in that section outlined by the lap seams and cover the window hole with the results of having a smooth and flush siding. I also welded a verticle upright square bar in the center of the hole to reenforce the new piece and glued the sheet to this bar and the around all the edges of the sheet..As I said earlier, I did not rivet and I used mild steel sheet to minimize expansion when in the sun..>>>Dan (The man whom own's that 06 will be in Quartzite,AZ. this January..>>>Dan
I took gutters off and undid edges around whole outside and re riveted all 1/8"" new aluminum then recut all windows . Lots of work and thousand blind rivets omg! Lol but sure looks good and no bulging . Just as strong as when gm built bus . I'm sure glueing is very easy though maybe would've did ne it that way but I just copied original design . I could email you some pics with skin off
