I have been contacted by a man that has a 4104 for sale. It has a 6-71 turbo engine with v730 transmission and 4106 rear end installed. This coach isn't roadworthy & has set sents 1999. There is no interior , lots of parts are off the bus needing to be installed. I have a trucking company that will travel down and back the 500 miles to get it to my location for $2000. I have an idea what I'm willing to offer but would like to see what others think. Thanks in advance for anyones imput.
Will you be parting it out?
Its a disposal problem for whoever currently "owns" it. You would be doing him a favour by removing it. My first offer would be that he pays the trucking to get it to your place but my first question would be "Why would you even consider doing this?"
I'm the same - salvage value. For me, it's worth about what you will spend to get it to your place.

The reason for considering buying it is I have the same bus so it would be a parts bus for me. I have been thinking of turbo charging mine and going to the v730 so the locked leg in stop and go traffic goes away. This bus is all setup and removing the cradle a refreshing the running gear will be a piece of cake.
That's why I was asking, you beat me to it!

Yes, that's an interesting slant of it. That would make the equation more inviting for me, but still -- $2000 just to move it? Or you could rent a heavy-duty trailer from U-Haul and a fork-lift from a rental place near him, buy just the engine transmission package, and your transportation costs (rental plus gas, assuming you have a vehicle that will move the trailer a thousand miles) will be nearly a thousand.
The engine transmission is valuable to you. Getting 22,000 pounds of junk off his property is valuable to him. The "geography" costs are high. It's an interesting question.
