Title: PS pump gasket
Post by: Iceni John on October 18, 2016, 09:34:07 PM
I've removed my Webster K hydraulic/PS pump from the SAE B 2-bolt adapter on the back of the engine, and I'll rebuild it with all new seals and wear plates.   There's a soft rubbery orange gasket between the pump and the 2-bolt adapter  - is this a Detroit part or something generic?   I've looked through the PC Industries website but can't find it there.   Clearwater Hydraulics has what looks like a fiber gasket for SAE B pumps, but I would prefer another soft gasket like my old one:   http://www.clearwaterhydraulics.com/index.php/pumps-motors-ptos/mounts-and-gaskets/ea-29013-22.html (http://www.clearwaterhydraulics.com/index.php/pumps-motors-ptos/mounts-and-gaskets/ea-29013-22.html)

Does anyone know if there's a Detroit part number for it, or where to get another soft orange one?

Many thanks, John

I just found a Beaver forum that mentions a 23516101 gasket for a Series 60.   PC Industries describes it as option type 447 for a PS pump cover.   There's no picture of it on the PCI website, so I don't know if it's the orange one.   Would this one work for me?

Thanks, John

ABC Bus does not have any of these gaskets in stock at their local branch here!   I asked them what they do if a bus comes in with a leaking gasket  -  they told me they get one from Muncie IN, which takes a week or more.   So a customer's bus is laid up for all that time losing thousands of dollars of revenue, all for a $1-something gasket that takes an hour to replace.   Unbelievable.

Valley Power has seven gaskets at their City of Industry branch, so I'll be going there on Saturday to get two of them  -  it's always a good idea to keep a spare.   Still, I have to spend $25 of gas and two hours of my time to get $3-worth of gaskets.

It's a hobby, I keep telling myself, and we'll do anything for the sake of our hobby, right?   My GF thinks I'm crazy A) to have a bus in the first place, and B) to spend so much time on it.   Maybe she's right.
