I need to get a Mitsubishi 3LE diesel engine in a generator fixed. What type of shop could look at the engine? It is a small 23HP liquid cooled diesel similar to a Kubota. Small engine shops that do other small diesels won't deal with a Mitsubishi because they don't have parts. One of the fuel injection inlet pipes is leaking at the injector and the exhaust smells funny.
I would prefer to find a small operation similar to Choo Choo for our buses that charges a little less and doesn't have the rigid corporate policies. I am just not sure where to start. This engine is also used in commercial mowers, forklifts, small excavators, and Westerbeke generators among other things.
Give Curt at Central Truck a call. 763-434-4260 He is on Hwy 65 at East Bethel, MN curt@centraltruckmn.com He may be willing to help you. Good luck, Sam
I was actually thinking about giving Central Truck Repair a call tomorrow. They claim to work on anything diesel powered. They have worked on my bus in the past.
I have a good small engine repair guy, but he will only do diesel work if in John Deere equipment. He doesn't want hassle of getting parts for Mitsubishi engine.
The exhaust smells better after running for a time. I ordered a new fuel injection pipe. I may not need a shop after all. We'll see. I have a service manual for the engine, but it assumes you are already an experienced diesel mechanic. It is not written for a DIY mechanic that has never done much with a diesel.
