Hi all.
My last update led me to a different question. Is it possible to use a shop compressor to air up a 74 MC8 that won't start? If so, how?
If I could air it up, I could put the blocks under it and have enough room to creep around...change a neutral safety switch, ya know?. All of the airbags are in great shape, but I will NOT rely on those...ever. I have a sweet ( and safety first) system...if I can get it under the bus.
On the passenger side of the fire wall, accessible from the side engine door, is the "ping tank". It is a steel pipe about 2" X 4 to 6" diameter mounted vertically with a drain at the bottom of it. The air discharge line comes from the compressor to it. Just above it, or near it should be a Schreader valve (like you connect to on a tire to air it up) that you can put shop air to. That will air up your bus. If there isn't one there, you should plumb one in. Airing up from the rear at the ping tank is best because the moisture in the air will be caught by the ping tank, then the air dryer at the front axle, before it gets into the air tanks.

And beside the ping tank might be a "drain daily" label. You should drain it daily when driving the bus, so most of the moisture in the air, and oil out of the compressor don't get past that.

I always put a "T" on that line where the schreader valve is and put a ball valve on it with a male hose coupling on it so I can hook my air hose to it and turn it on. (thus not having to stand there forever holding it to put air in it!)

Me, too. In fact, I did that twice so I can air it up from the front or rear.
Plus you can use it in reverse to air something else up when the bus is running with a spare air hose.

On my MC-7 there is a shreader valve just inside the r/h engine
access door. Mine is mounted on the wheel well housing for the
tag axel. It is most handy, I used it just the other day.

Yes, my '78 MC8 had the same - below the tag axle unloading valves
