I am looking for a mechanic who can replace the seal in the water pump on my 8V71. The two shops listed on Detroit Reman's web site are no help.
Thank you,
Bob
You don't need a 2 stroke person to replace the seal any truck shop should be able to replace the seal ,the series 60 used the same setup on the early 60 series
luvrbus;
What I am running into is everybody wants to replace the pump, at $385 plus labor. Replacing the seal sounds attractive.
call me 303-591-0372

Be prepared a seal does not always solve the problem if the shaft is worn then the pump needs to come off and a pump replacement will cost you + or - a 1000 bucks
good luck
luvrbus,
I agree, we will be looking for a pump.
Stewart and Stevenson, Denver had a good 2 stroke mechanic. I think his name is Jim.
RV Makeovers in Wheatridge, CO and they do a lot of bus work. If they can't do it they should know someone who can. Check out their website at http://www.rvmakeovers.com/ (http://www.rvmakeovers.com/) or give them a call at 844-824-9590 and ask for Dusty.
Call Wayne like he said! You will be glad that you did. :)
Thank you all for the help. Wayne came up with a good option for us and we will follow up with him.
Bob
Yes call Wayne and pay him with good carolina spring water. then you will have a friend for life.
I do not think money will do it. He seems to have all of that he needs.
Great guy

Ned I was out of spring water and Eric saved the day on their way to yellowstone this summer. The stories will get very good around the campfire elk hunting in a few weeks.
