Post by: busfan on September 12, 2016, 03:51:48 PM
Hi, Owner of a sweet new to me Bus 1951 gm pd-4103 I think it is sweet! neighbors not so much..

Last color scheme appears to be blue and cream #555 and once metallic green, once red.. has since been sandblasted to grey!

I have a window rubber problem, most of the seals are super deteriated and unusable, anyone able to identify my window rubber profile? Would be greatly appreciated, Need to get it done before it starts to RAIN here in EUGENE......

Thanks! George

It must be a rule that bus owners never live next door to folks who appreciate buses.

George,

Was anyone able to help you find what you need?  Did you try Luke at US Coach in NJ?

Keep us posted,

Mark

Call Ted at coach maintenance in Williams, Ca. He's a night owl so call in the evening. If he doesn't have any rubber he can advise on moving forward.

Thanks, I'll try them.. the damn things are so heavy, I'm wondering if there is not something better that can be fabbed from plexiglass and a dual channel window rubber..Supposed to rain here in Oregon Sunday, so the meantime I'm going to stick some rigid foam insulation foil side out..Been sitting in the rain up in Portland for a 2.5 year span with no windows o.O;  Girders are starting to get a little rusty but it over all it is surprisingly good.

I'll do it thanks! Been really busy with other stuff but as the rain is coming, gonna have to get creative in the meanwhile.

What I do not understand is one side of the bus has these things in the top of the windows

and on the other side just holes where those would go 2 per window?

So that is the only one on the other side all others missing, guessing the rocket shape fits into the top crotch?

Windows seem so friggin heavy, I'll keep em for posterity sake but to rehab the bunch of them is going to take some time, seems like if I found the right I channel rubber I could get some thin plexiglass in there stat and worry bout the windows last. as a dry work environment in oregon is prefered.  New to the window thing but guessing, they sell I channel in 90deg bends?

These were sweet old buses indeed!!! Under powered ,but drove like a dream ,had a air conditioner that would have cooled an ice cream ware house AND had a floor mounted gear shift lever instead of the column mounted one like the 3751's did.

Well I went with plexiglass and the one piece sealing rubber, 1/16 on the aluminum channel side to 1/4 plexi.

Sadly they leak like a sieve, if I had a laser cutter(not my jig saw) maybe i'd be better..

Got 4 windows in and drippidy do dah :(  stopped raining here finally..

Gonna get on the horn to the coach maintenance guy ted tomorrow!
