I am aware that the detroit DDEC requires the proprietary software in order to plug in and run diagnostics etc. However, will the Scan Gauge D work in a bus with 60 series for monitoring some additional parameters? At under $200 it would be a great plug and play option for adding some gauges such as rpm, boost, trans temp, etc. Could be a very useful yet inexpensive tool.
Stands a chance of working. DDEC used both of the protocols that the Scangauge D supports. J1939 uses a 9 pin port and J1708 uses a 6 pin port. DDEC II was J1708, and DDEC IV was J1939. I have a OBDII Scangauge for my diesel truck, and I find it very useful. I monitor some critical temps, and actually find it's fuel level gauge to be ridiculously accurate.

Well Google found some more information for me and also several comments on truck forums by guys that use them with series 60's, so I went ahead and pulled the trigger. I will have one in my hands tomorrow for $159.
It will have standard gauges pre-programmed but if you check there may be manufacturer specific gauges that you can custom program in. I did a bunch for my Ford.

Same for my VW Jetta TDI wagon. BH
