I have had some issues getting the transition from my female threaded Poly tank bung fitting to the ABS male threaded blade valve. Been using TONS of goop and still drips leaks out of the threaded joint. Any ideas on how to get this to seal forever?

Get you some white teflon pipe dope, or the yellow rector seal pipe dope. Apply a cote to the male threads, put on a couple wraps of white teflon tape, then apply some more dope. Usually only need to tighten by hand, do not use a wrench. You can usually bottom out the threads by hand using this method. Overtightening will not gain you anything but it will guarantee a leak. I have used this method on stubborn connections many times with good results. Don't get all Hercules on it, it won't work.
Oh yeah, don't waste your time trying rtv or silicone. Even if it does hold, it will only be a matter of time until it leaks.
Scott are you sure the threads are the same. Might be a different thread pattern. Also sometimes I will use the yellow Gas pipe tape it is a little thicker. Plumber's putty works also

Buy a can of Rectorseal T+2 dab it on and let set over night it will set,the PTFE type will not set
+1 on the Tru Blu Rectorseal. Once you try it you won't use anything else.

Ok. Sorry for the triple post. Tapatalk frag. I did what I do when I can't get something to seal. Yes the threads are the same. I used rector seal t+2 and literally filled in ALL the threads with it. I then used the yellow gas line Teflon tape and wrapped two rolls nearly around the male part of the threads. Connected everything and filled my 150 gallon tank with water and zero leaks finally!!! Thanks all

Glad it's not your black tank just in case!.... :o
I like goop, But some plastic fittings say tape ONLY. So I am using tape on plastic, goop on steel.
try pink teflon tape and http://www.gfthompson.com/index.php/masters/masters-pipe-thread-sealants-detail (http://www.gfthompson.com/index.php/masters/masters-pipe-thread-sealants-detail)
works every time

In my early days we would wrap all the pipe thread with cotton thread and then put on a pipe dope as it was called back then or use a thread sealant latter on when it became available. Wrap the thread in the groves of the threaded piece then the sealant.
