Title: Interior Windshield Drapes, What are you using.
Post by: scanzel on August 16, 2016, 08:33:36 AM
I am trying to come up with some drapes to cover over the windshield and side windows during the night and partially during the day but can't seem to find some tracks that I am happy with. I need one straight section and a 90 for each end to bring the drapes around to the side windows. What is the norm that everyone is using for covering your interior windshield at night or day from the sun ? Thank you.

I found these with a quick search on Amazon.

I'm sure there are other pre-made items that would easily work as well.

That is basically what I used. The track is aluminum and can be bent to the position you want your shades. Have used them for 16 years. Good Luck, TomC

I did curtains with a heavy quilt backing to help with the heat for the windshield in the old bus. I eventually ended up making solar screens for the outside of the windows which help block out heat considerably . During the day you cannot see in from the outside, and for those really hot days I have reflectix cut to fit inside the windows. Works way better than even the heaviest curtains. So well in fact I repeated the same process for the new bus and didn't even bother with the curtains.

We have the heavy curtains that accordion back to the side windows. They stay neat and don't take up any room. When clipped back they are about an inch thick and four inches wide.

Where did you get the accordion curtains? Order them somewhere?

Here the channel track at CW and the slide hooks that go in them we used. Wife made heavy curtains with lining and we used curtain hooks to hook them to those. They pull back like Dons and she made a strape with velcro strips that I screwd to the rear of the door post. We pull them back when not using them and velco them in place. There are two panels that meet in the middle again with velco and they over lap 4 inches. They help keep heat out as well as complete privacy at night.
