Title: Copper Fittings for Air System
Post by: jav9956 on August 14, 2016, 09:52:49 AM
Hi all.

I was hoping someone might be able to direct me to a place to get a cap for the copper fittings in the air line. I have, what looks like to me, a transfer case without a lot of little outlets and each line is threaded off of that. I took the line that ran to the old bathroom out (and had it temporarily sealed) but I would like to thread a cap on it.

It looks like 1/8" copper line to me. Where do you guys go to get the small copper fittings? Or, how do you seal the air lines ones you remove them?

Thank you in advance!

I am thinking my best bet may be McMaster Carr. I will check the manual this evening to see if they specify a thread and size or try to stop by the hardware store to get the thread.

Any further guidance or alternate approach would be helpful.

Any good hydraulic hose shop will have the caps in the threaded or compression type

Thanks! I will see what I can find locally or on the webernet.

A lot of air brake plumbing uses copper flare fittings. NAPPA may be able to help. A lot other auto parts houses stock brass fittings in the pull out trays. Mc Master, Graingers, I find a lot of good stuff at flea markets and swap meets...

I had to order some components from McMaster for an assembly I have going at work so I threw in an 1/8" brass cap (medium pressure, up to 1000psi).

No idea if it will fit but it was $1... this is one mistake I can afford  ;D

I appreciate the heads up though and if this doesn't work NAPA will be my first stop!
