Having our coach painted starting Sunday. Will be involved in every step of the process. This is just an exciting part of the conversion process. Almost there. Two more weeks and we hit the road. Will post pics of the painting progress here. Sounds and looks like all is working great, keep us in with the pics.

Dual pane Hehr most likely. Been sanding my head off. Just went to bed at 1:30 am and will be at it at 6 am tomorrow. Painter flys in on Sunday. In a wedding on Saturday. Yikes. More sanding today. Boring. I knows

I used dual pane milgard. Make sure you specify tempered glass. It doesn't shard if you have a break.
Is that a big hole I see in the rear cap?
One of the biggest comments we always get is how many big windows we have. Both my wife and I love the big windows to bring the outside into the bus.
So much so, my truck conversion actually has larger windows. Don't think fewer windows are better-you'll regret it down the road-especially sitting in a very scenic campground. Good Luck, TomC
Yep big hole. Engine air intake

Is that an oops? Or is there something that belongs there that was removed for paint prep?

got that covered...i put my shoes on and step outside :) excess windows add to the AC/heat load
^ I keep saying this but no one hears. One side is done. No clear coat pics yet but coming soon.(https://busconversionmagazine.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fuploads.tapatalk-cdn.com%2F20160810%2Fc7ec4e5e1135668bc4250dcf1f556ebc.jpg&hash=d52de288b955f86cd743aa6975a670d1b64de9b2)(https://busconversionmagazine.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fuploads.tapatalk-cdn.com%2F20160810%2F6b1805bb9de79500003106a7c56124ca.jpg&hash=17ee6d81f597cb7fb56c3cf2b11ba47123bbdaa9)

very nice look Scott, is that charcoal color? tom, lvmci...
Yes it is metallic graphite. And the accent color is the Woodland brown metallic. With the clearcoat on it pops really nicely. I just have not had a chance to take any photos yet

Are those vinyl graphics ?

Are those vinyl graphics ?
inquiring minds need to know... ???
And, are you putting clear coat over them?
I say they are vinyl it would take a guy a week to lay those out and 50 rolls of tape, when Mike Wilson did Matt's Eagle he painted the graphics first then he painted the rest and did the clear coat you could not tell where the graphics started and stopped
Look at the picture.. yellow is masking tape over actual striping color ... normal paint job..looks great ...rdw

Wrong they do look fantastic but I read on F/B just a few minutes ago they are vinyl lol people tell all on F/B,The 1st thing thing that tipped me off was there was no over-spray
you are looking real good Scott
Why tape over them if vinyl, then paint black? Trying to get same depth? Lot easier ways to do it...rdw

They are not taping over them!
Scott had a sign shop make him vinyl templates to put on and paint over!
Then peel them off and the graphics are there!
SO much EASIER than taping off all those graphic lines!
GREAT JOB Scott!
;D BK ;D
What I thought..not painting over vinyl... based masked..then grey shot..how we've always painted...rdw
Scott when you were sanding the front over the headlights, was it fiberglass or metal under the paint? lvmci...
Lol. Ok so cliff and gg are correct. Actually you all kinda are correct. The yellow large center graphic is indeed a vinyl transfer that I had made for us. We then used fine line tape to free hand the large stripe swoops from the front drivers window to the graphic and from the rear cap to the graphic. We used yellow masking tape to fill inside the free handed swoops. The vinyl graphic happens to also be yellow. We shot the accent/graphic color in the general vicinity of where we wanted the graphics. We let it flash off and then applied the vinyl transfer graphic and free handed the swoops. We then applied the body color (graphite) and then peeled off the masking leaving behind the brown graphics. We then clear coated everything

Looks great ,when you install the lights and drip rails it will look even better
good luck
If it's not being too nosey, was the paint urethane base coat/clear coat? What brand or brands? How many coats of each? How much mix was used for each coat? That would really help others figure what is involved material wise to cover the whole coach.
Thanks cliff. So if we could do it differently we would have made the graphics pop more. The paint chip book indicated the brown was much lighter. So you can hardly see the graphics in photos . Something we can fix later. Anyway, Sherwin Williams BCCC. Sealer and acid etch primer also Sherwin Williams. This job cost about $6000 total.

Two coats of everything for the most part

If you decide you can't live with the 'ghost graphics' look (although they don't look bad, being perhaps the motorhome equivalent of ghost flames on a hot rod), one idea would be to get another identical set of vinyl graphics cut and then lay them over the painted graphics, but at a slight offset. That would give you a traditional 'solid drop shadow' 3D effect, which would both fix the issue you aren't happy with and give an extra air of sophistication to the whole paint scheme as well
Jeremy
Jeremy is right, that would look cool!
Looks great! Our bus is painted but we haven't done any detail work yet. And I think your price wasn't bad either!!!
I like it..looks stealth.
Not in your face...
Another idea would be to pinstripe the edges of the graphics in a more contrasting colour (a lighter shade of the same colour would probably be best), which would do a lot to give the the existing graphics more definition and presence
Jeremy
Hi Jeremy, drop shadow is a great idea mind if I use it, tom, lvmci...
I had a shadow Eagle on the front cap of our Eagle Bus I didn't care for it you had to tell people it was there,I finally had it painted over and did something else.George has a Eagle on his cap and you don't notice it either unless he tells where to look ;D
Jeremy I honestly will likely go with the edge pinstripe idea. Easier and will let the graphic pop lore

Another vote for the pin stripping
Beautiful job Scott. It looks like a million bucks! Jack
Looks great Scott!! Keep up the good work. I would also vote for the pin stripping ;)
That is amazing, what a huge job and it ended up great. You are definitely going to be living the bus high life, the bees knees going down the road!
Very nice paintjob. We like the graphics the way they are. It says great paintjob with ghost graphics, instead of wow big nice graphics lots like a SS. Ghost graphics as we Irish say ,"It's just enough and plenty." ;D
Dave5Cs
LOL thank you so much for the props guys! For now we just need to hit the road, in the future we will see what we can do about maybe making a graphics more. But since so many of you like them just the way they are, we will leave them for now
