Folks, a soon to be new member of the club needs some help. He is traveling with his singing group and they have found a hole in the tranny cooler. The bus is a 2003 Prevost. They are in desperate need of a mechanic who can provide a fix so they can get back home. They are located at the Riverview Convention Center in Cedar Falls, IA.
Any one near by who can lend a hand or point them in the right direction? This guy is a long time public safety guy and could use some support.
He can be reached at: 270-991-2561 Name is Lee.
Thanks
Grant

Have him go to prevostcar.com tech manual section enter last Letter in serial # plus last four digits. That will get him to how coach was built and sections on each area of coach. Transmission sec. I think that had two lines coming out of trans to cooler if so disconnect from cooler remove one line and take cooler out of loop. If he isn't hauling a heavy trailer and keeps the speed down it should be ok. I said should be?

if that is wet cooler check trans fluid and if it's brown he has big problems. trans is on way out. if BK see this I think he had several fail on a 2006.B 500 and can comment.

Bob is absolutely correct, and I would add that as long as the tranny fluid has not been contaminated joining the in and out hoses from the cooler will get him back running, but has to avoid using the retarder at all costs. The retarder will drive up the fluid temps.

Thanks I will pass along.

If it is just leaking coolant turn the valves off at the engine he is not going to harm the transmission unless it goes over 270F sump temperature or 330F for the retarder the Allison will tell him if he is getting in the danger zone.If he has a oil leak then that is a different story
