Title: Colorado Springs / Denver Boondock or RV park
Post by: Beachfinn on June 21, 2016, 08:49:03 PM
Did the it the old fashion; got to CO, after buzzing around for 3k miles (TX,FL,MS). This just to realize everything is sold out, in Colorado Springs. Any recommendations on Boondock locations / RV parks in the general area? I'd like to be within ~2hours from airport. 50A would be nice, no blumbing yet. Looking for some days up to few weeks, probably store in the area if I have to fly for work.

Sami used to live in the Springs and as I remember other than trail parks there are not an RV parks there. They would be more towards Manitou area. I believe there are two there it is across I-25 west of CS by Colorado City and Red Rocks Park. Out by the airport is mainly Military stuff Bases and highly classified stuff so be very careful where you park out there. South of town is not the best of areas. East is ok but windy in the winter and the most snow. West is windy in the canyons and icy roads in winter. also summer flash floods in all areas but not every year. Rain all over all summer and spring at about between 3 and 5 pm a lot of days. Nice place to live once you get use to it.HTH

Canon City is southwest of CS about 45 minutes (CO115 to US 40), in the Arkansas river valley, moderate temperatures but cools down nightly, has it's own attractions, several campgrounds. Look at that since it is easily accessible to the CS airport.

Seems like there's an RV park south of Colorado Springs, on the west side of the I-25. Don't recall just where. Between Fountain and Pueblo, but more on the north end.

Ended up at golden eagle just south of COS. Nice campground with quite a few spots. Our coach isn't the nicest looking and they have zero issues with that. I got the premium for $48, double lot with full hook ups. We have to fly out tomorrow for work, but plan on spending summer in this neck of the woods. I'd still be interested on something more primitive...
