Title: Anybody ever used this wheel company?
Post by: gumpy on June 15, 2016, 09:36:20 AM
I'm looking to get some aluminum wheels for the bus. Nobody here can get me anything at a reasonable price, or are not willing to try.

I found the following website:  forgedtruckwheelsales.com

It is a California company that has stud pilot polished aluminum 24.5 x 8.25 wheels for $279 with free shipping. Seems like a good deal.

When I called them, the guy who answered was obviously oriental. I had to ask if this was the company because he answered the phone with a generic "hello".
I asked where the wheels were imported from and he said China.
I asked if he had a California business license. He said he did and he's going to email it to me.
I also asked if the wheels were DOT approved and for some testing data. He said they were and he's supposed to be sending that to me, also.

Has anyone here ever heard of this company or done business with them?

Never dealt with the company but if the wheels are made by Hongxin they are DOT approved

What kind of condition were they?   I had a guy in South St. Paul tell me he had a set of 8 that came off a tractor. Said they were "decent". They were so corroded the bead
probably would not have sealed on them!  There are no used ones around here at all.

They were in good condition. Not perfect but certainly usable and still had polish on the one side.

FYI, they have stud wheels for sale too. Pricey but fair. They seem like a nice company family owned. I think when I head through Minnesota I'll have them polish my wheels

After some thought and chasing prices and all, I've decided I'm just going to stick with steel wheels for now. I've put a lot of money into my bus this year so far, and I think
I need to slow down on the spending so I might have some money to actually use it.

I'll have to keep that place in Burnsville in mine, though, as it looks interesting. I did find new Accurides for $320/steer and $340/drive. I think for the
money I'd probably go that route than the China made stuff in my original post.

Thanks for all information.

I dealt with Rimco in Neche, ND earlier this year. Had a cracked rim so I got one from a salvage yard. Sent it to Rimco for cleaning/checking/painting. They replied the rim was no good as the ball face area was worn beyond limits. so they sold me a replacement one. Not only did I not get my old rim back so I could return it to the salvage yard for an in house credit but the rim I did get from Rimco has a wobble in it. So I can't give you a lead on WHERE to go but ....
