Title: Free Eagle Bus - Seattle WA
Post by: ScharpeStGuy on June 01, 2016, 10:06:32 AM
I am still looking for a converted bus with 3+ bunks and came across this bus. Perhaps one of you all could obtain a good bus or one for parts.

I know nothing about this bus other than what is listed in the ad. All the best.

That listing says fuel is gas. Now could this be a natural gas conversion or did he put a big block V8 gasoline engine in it? :)

If he didn't fill out that part of Craigslist then gas and automatic is default just saying

It's a model 10 Eagle 80's vintage and will have a 8v71 or 6v92TA engine

Disagree - looks like a 05 model, low entry door, no windows in front cap, white steering wheel. Probably has 4 speed Spicer, that's why it's free. Someone needs to take the bait and email the owner.

Not all 10's had the higher door and that is a 10 cap,it's probably a Sea Tec model 10 like Dennis's 10 with the white steering wheel .The high door came at about the mid 1981 models according to Joe Richards

Ive been talking to the owner.  Actually its not the owner of the bus its the owner of the storage place the bus is parked at.  The owner of the bus bought it and drove it to a car dealers lot(friend) to work on it. The car dealer ownership was bought out and the original bus owner couldnt get the bus started and had it towed to the storage place.

He paid for a months storage and then stopped paying.  The owner of the storage place wants it gone.  I told him I could look at it mid june but he said a lot of people called and he wouldnt hold it for anyone unless they wanted to pay 105 a month for the storage fee.

Sounded kinda sketchy to me without a title or registration.  I know most pro towing places wont touch it without some form of ownership paperwork (bill of lading).  Not that you couldnt get someone to tow it outta there.

Im sure if you went down and towed it to a scrapyard you could walk away with 1500 in your pocket for half a days work.

If you find out any more let me know...

They have not responded to my email and I do not see a phone number in the ad. It looks like we may never know what it is at this rate. The VIN number would help. Scrap yards (in Ohio anyway) need a title for a motor vehicle to be turned in for scrap. This might be an opportunity for someone in the Seattle area for parts.

Good fun following this thread and the story of the free??? bus in Seattle. Perhaps Daveola who per another thread is in Seattle could pop by the storage yard and obtain the vin and a few pictures for all of us. Just a thought.

Yes, and we have to know if it is a 05 or 10 model Eagle. I do not think a model ten with or without short doors would have no windows in the front cap (unless that was a delete option).

Well, that nails it, it is either a 05 with a 10 cap, or a early 10 with hybrid parts. Does yours have power steering from the factory with a white steering wheel?

Dennis Nolder 80 model 10 has the white steering wheel with factory power steering his is one of the few shipped with the 740 Allison the early 10's had the 644 Allison because there was not enough clearance on the drivers side for the 740

I have a NOS White Steering Wheel (larger diameter) that I got from Eagle in the nineties that I never used, in case you want to complete your white on white dash theme (looks sharp).
