Any suggestions on a reputable, inexpensive place to buy a 3208TA turbo? Rebuilt is fine. And, where would I look for a number to make sure I am buying the correct one?
Thanks!
TOM
I can't help, only wanted to say it's good to see you around ;)

Tom,a guy in Fort Worth that builds a good 3208 he uses the 3 ring piston and machines the deck his name is John Rummel his outfit is Yellow Engine Service I think . Cat dealers will sell you a short or long block and they are a good engine but a little pricey, lol how in the world at your age end up wanting a 3208
i'm thinking ...again... ;D
that he's looking for just the turbocharger
but .... i'm thinking once again, i cold be wrong ... :o
Cliff, maybe it's a little late at night? I dunno but I'm with don here, I think he just wants the turbo :)

I thought the only 3208TA was a marine engine using raw water for the aftercooler. I didn't think they made an aftercooled automotive engine. Unless you specifically need a 3208, I would go for another engine-the Cummins 6.7 is a far superior engine (most all engines are superior to a 3208). Good Luck, TomC
To many crawfish, beer and Cajun music lol Tom call Tom at Tubro Resources in Lake Havasu AZ he will fix you up
Well, I got a good laugh reading the replies, and I needed one.
It's no wonder us humans get into so many conflicts. People like me can't express what they mean and a lot of others don't understand anyway!

If they don't have what you need. Try Michigan Turbo in Grand Rapids.
Years ago I used Majestic Turbo in Waco Texas.
Good company at the time.

Bought mine on Ebay, new better price than rebuilt.

I appreciate all the replies. I haven't seriously checked prices yet because I have so many other things going on. And I'm not up for much work yet. I did just do a Google search and was astounded there were a lot of new CAT turbos listed for $300-$400, Unfortunately, none for 3208s. Once i get into the engine I'll see what I need.
