Title: Delvac 1240 in SoCal
Post by: Lin on May 27, 2016, 04:20:06 PM
I'm up for an oil change.  I have always used Delo 100 since it is all that I can get around here but just found that Flyers Oil with offices and Bloomington and San Diego have it.  It's around $60 for a case of 4 one gallon bottles or about $75 for a 5 gallon pail.  I know that this won't impress Clifford who just pumps it from his own well, but it is good news for anyone in this area.  The only problem for me is that both of those locations are pretty far away.  They will ship it though for a flat rate of $50. for the whole order.  55 gallons gets you free delivery, but that's a bit too long term for me.

"too long term for me". You won't buy green bananas either? Although the oil will last longer than the bananas...

I saw an interview with a petroleum engineer that said if you keep oil around for several years you should shake it up before use to distribute the additives.  I just don't like shaking 55 gallon drums.  I've even given up on juggling 8d batteries.

often Amazon Prime will have Delo 100 or Shell Rotella 2 day free delivery. oils oil...so long as it's 40wt

i did run a bunch of 30wt thru mine in AK.

and in a pinch I would add 15/40 if i had to...

There are a couple of oil suppliers in Long Beach, Ca that carry 40 weight in bulk. Bring in your own jug and fill it up. I've been using A.P. Fisher, 1601 Caspian Av, Long Beach, Ca, 90813. They have their own 40, Chevron, Shell, Mobil, too. Carry all oils, antifreeze, grease, etc.
I always carry 3 cases (12gal) Delo 100 40w with me, extra filters, etc. Good Luck, TomC

Tom- As mentioned, I can get Delo 100 here but several have claimed that Delvac is superior and disappears more slowly, so I wanted to try it.

  HI;
      Your local O'Rieleys auto parts store can get it.  Someone on this board mantioned
      this because it was on sale for $12 a gallon.  Now it is up to $19 a gal.  Expensive,
      but it is available.
      I also have used Pep Boys house brand oil for years.  Don't know if they can
      still get it.   Just be sure it is straight 40wt and a SAE rating of at least CF-2.
                                       Good luck,   Merle.

Merle, O'Reilly here says they do not have it in their system.  Do you have a part number?  Maybe that would help them.
