I have some small oil seepage at the front corner of one head, at the head to block joint. It's light, but the oil attracts dirt so it gets grimy and you can see it. Am I correct in assuming that is seepage past the oil passage O-ring between the head and block, and am I correct in assuming that I don't need to pull the engine out to pull the head to fix it instantly?

Sure it's not leaking somewhere else like the valve cover or blower, or governor and running down the deck of the block from above somewhere?
Many cans of brake cleen are being sacrificed to to mission of finding the leak... Today, the though was my starter motor is leaking. Starter motors don't have oil in them. The search continues. I actually think the air box covers might be spraying (turbo engine) and putting a mist out that gets over everything.
Brain mine leaks a little too and back by the air compressor. When it gets messy I just spray it with the Purple stuff and spray it with my pressure washer. i turn it down from 3500 to 1500 and blast away. Cleans it right up for a few months. Never enough for dripping on the ground other than my air box drains and they are only a little after a good run.

It only leaks after a run. there are a few other seeps, but I think if I find this one, it will make me happy. It's a 10" spot on asphalt that stops dripping after a day. Right under the starter motor. Top of the engine, oddly, is completely dry. Gasket sealer worked up there! Keeps me busy, I guess.
Brian, I had the rear crank seal leak and it made the starter look like it was leaking oil ???

Clean it thoroughly and spray it with a talcum powder in a spray can. Some powder type deodorant sprays will work.
Up in the north, I can't imagine power washing my Detroit. It will never rust :)

Scott that's funny.

Finding leaks on a 2 cycle is like playing whack-a-mole; they keep coming up. I like the talcum powder idea, its good to know where they are even though we are not going to do anything to harm the anti-rust prevention program.
