I have 50 amp service on the Trek,I can get 120v on each leg when testing the cable but can only get 78v when I tie it back in to the RV what gives have I lost a ground ? should I start the generator and see if it will power the rv.
It was working fine till I plugged into a 30 amp now nothing works and I have 78 volts on both the input and output on the change over switch.
Would a bad GFI cause the problem I have 3 but none seem tripped
thanks
Cliff, what is the leg-to-leg voltage at the cord end? Also is there anything between the inlet connector and the changeover switch?
-Sean
plug the trek in and see if you can back the plug out enough to get your test lead on the prong And check for the drop there. If that is where it drops it's probably at or before the outlet. Most Likely not the trek.
Sean I am getting 78 volts at cord end everything works on the inverter and generator except 2 plugs and the microwave,I am beginning to think its a breaker,GFI or bad plug on the 50 amp shore power cord any ideas I do some more testing and get back Jack
So, just to confirm, you are measuring 78 volts leg-to-neutral with everything disconnected, or is the inverter/charger connected while you are measuring?
-Sean
It was on the Mayo side I am now getting 115 v on each leg after 2 days of chasing this stuff, plus the inverter was on a GFI I didn't know was there
thanks guys, Sean tell Louise hi for us and you guys be safe on the water
Thanks, Clifff, will do.
Glad you got it solved, and know that you can always call me for anything electrical.
