Hi all.for you guys that have put satellite dishes on your bus. what are the pros and cons that you have encountered. thanks. ::)
if you are in the trees you will wish for something portable...often.
We carry a dish to throw out on the ground if we have to. We have an automatic hd dish and a KVH in motion on the roof. The HD doesn't work going down the road and can be a bit touchy about finding the signal some times. The KVH finds a signal almost instantly, isn't HD, and doesn't work very well in rain, thick clouds, or fog. So they all have good points and not so good.

Thanks for that, Don. I don't have a TV at home now but I'm guessing that for portable InnerWebs and TV weather, I'll need *something* for the bus. What is a "KVH" and how does it work, please?
Beyond the problems of reception and cost, there is the problem of roof clearance. On my Eagle it is the highest point on the roof and a snag point for branches and wires. If the unit does not provide TV while on the road, then why have it permanently mounted on the roof, in my opinion.
I have a dish on the roof that I can raise and rotate with switches from inside the bus, I also have an app for my smart phone that shows me where the satelites are so I can get close enough to use my sat aiming meter, works very well for me.
www.kvh.com (http://www.kvh.com) KVH makes different units for many applications.

Thanks, I'll check that out and look at the tech data.
