Title: I have a source for MCI studs
Post by: Scott & Heather on May 04, 2016, 09:44:21 AM
I have been chatting with my dad-in-law about Cliff needing some DL3 longer studs for his alcoas. His company actually makes the studs for Meritor. In fact, the longer studs on our 102C3 came from his shop (denoted by the "H" stamped on the end). If anyone needs a specific stud, please let us know and we can probably provide them a lot cheaper than you are paying MCI or most other sources. We need the specs on the stud or an actually stud mailed to me so he can set up the tooling for it. Let me know if that might be helpful. Cliff, if you haven't found your studs for your DL3 yet, let me know.

hi Clifford and Scott, so do we have a topic page on this site for hard to find parts that someone has found a source? maybe you should start a topic, "PARTS, hard to find, but we found them!" .  lvmci..

I just want to reiterate that we won't be able to make any that they are not already tooled for, but if they are studs that they make for Meritor then he can make them in the shop and he can ship them to you fairly cheaply.

I just got lucky a operator bought the studs for his D then discovered later they were stud pilot and he needed hub pilot studs. I bought all 40 and I will probably pass out when I get the shipping bill

Clifford   Why would the studs be different on a hub piloted wheel and a stud piloted wheel.

My newer ford f250 is hub pilot and my older f250 is stud piloted and the studs look the same.

The big difference is the lugs.

just curious and knew the best would know the difference.

On a DL3 bus the hub pilot studs are metric and smaller in diameter

good morning Clifford

I knew you would know the difference.  Us old mountain boys are a little slow and have not got into the
metric world very much.

Clifford   Trying to work on bus #3

I found a seated 4905 that checks out great and the price is even better.

Just have to figure out how to get it up my drive way and convince the better half we need #3.

That'll work!  Yeah, like after 54 years, she hasn't got you figgered out?  She knows what you'll do before you even think it up!
