Title: What Service Does My B400R Need While It's Out?
Post by: Lostranger on April 12, 2016, 10:31:50 PM
I have no known transmission issues, but since it will be out of the bus anyway, what should I check, and what seals should I replace? I will, of course, change filters while it's out. I assume that fresh fluid is in order.

Should I take it to an Allison service center as a prophylactic measure?

Which fluid works best in this transmission?

I'd hate to stick it back in and THEN learn that I shoulda....

Jim, if it is performing without problems, I wouldn't do anything to it.  The B400 is a good transmission.  You will need to go back with Transynd in it.  That tranmission has a retarder and it will heat up the fluid when retarding.

Jim there is a trimmer valve spring up date but if your not having any shifting problems dont fix it. File the trans number and serial # away in your book of secrets for a time it does have an issue.
as has been said service it and leave it alone.
