Title: more interesting buses
Post by: CrabbyMilton on April 05, 2016, 01:01:42 PM
I'm now looking at pictures of buses from South America and found this one.

This bus is/was owned by a commune out on the West Coast .It actually was in Asheville N C a few years back .The same group had a 4107 with them also.It was not customized on the out side like the SCENICRUISER was .They also had in in this caravan a early to mid 40'ties White school bus type with a wild paint job.Tried to talk to one of these guy's about the Scenicrusier to see if the main bus had been a Scenicruiser or the Beck imposter but he did not have a clue.I am almost sure that the main bus was a Scenicruiser with a 50'ties vintage Beck front end.Guy said they had used 4 buses to make this thing.

I always wondered how tall that conversion was, looks more than 13'6"

The front looks a bit like a CROWN.
Can't really tell if the location of that picture was in South America or up here. I just did a GOOGLE image search and that one was on there.

They started with a Scenicruiser and added the Beck front. Moved the raised Scenicruiser second deck forward with Beck style windows. Then the two rear raised portions were from a rather rare Crown vista cruiser bus. Truly a unique bus inside and out. And yes, I believe it is sitting at 13'6"-just like my truck is also. Good Luck, TomC

The interior woodwork looks like a museum exhibit, much carving and very clever and intricate work throughout.

Started with PD4501-570. I believe (if I remember correctly) front end is Aerocoach. Here are some construction photos.http://www.scenicruisers.com/scenicruisers/pd-4501-570/ (http://www.scenicruisers.com/scenicruisers/pd-4501-570/)

Wow, they really put a lot of time and energy into that one. Yes, the interior is something else alright.
In some ways it reminds me of the interiors that Mike Kadletz came up with.
I wonder what he's up to these days?

Very nice.  I like the notes about the history, too.
