Just sold my 68 mci 5a. Currently looking at a pretty rough 49 flexible. Any advise out there?
Are you considering it for a coolness factor? Parts for most of it other than chassis parts, will be very hard to obtain. Engine choice would be easy though as pretty much any small to medium diesel or medium to large gas engine would work. Otherwise a newer MCI,GMC, Eagle, or Prevot would make more sense to the average converter. But otherwise, go for it.
Yep buy back your 5A!.... What were you thinking? LOL ;D :o

Dave, you made me laugh. Where were you with your good advice when I bought my old bus?
A '49 Flexible----yup, its got the cool factor going for it. Too much fun. Go for it! Jack
Found this site while looking for picture of the Gornike bus on RV.

Jack after seeing your Bus in San Dimas Rally inside and out it is the Cool Factor. 8)

Might be interested in the side glass Mike if they are the hinged type--if you end up with the 49. thanks. tom
The coolness factor is a big motivator
Feasability is another factor of course.

Hi Mike, coolness factor is 100 times greater in a MCI6, as there was only 100 made and you could put any e gine in it as it was designed for a 12V71, it is a very different looking bus, most are converted of the ones left, they come on the market every once and awhile, heavy, cheap and stainless steel, lvmci...
Another one for being oddball. Weird bolt pattern on wheels, three levels inside, UN obtanium body panels, and probably windshields, although I'm not sure about that. I don't know about what kind of steering it has or the airbag system. I always lusted after them until I saw one up close, and then slowly lost interest over the years. They do have an appealing look to them compared to the other MCI's Btw, if you want to see one in action, see the movie "KOTCH" with Walter Mathau. It is the only movie I've ever seen wth an MC-6 in it. And it is Large for it's time.
Heh Mike,
Congrats on that sale.
We're about to try and sell our 1971 MCI MC-7.
It still needs some interior updates, but is usable to travel with.
We're trying to set a price to start at.
Any ideas where that should be?
Would you be willing to give me a clue about what price range your bus sold at?
Thanks for any tips to help us sell our baby.

Yes mike MCI 7s, especially the COMBOs, have verg big engine bays, you may have read Daves, wg4t50, comments about putting a 12V71 in his 7, lvmci...

I've got the will----I just don't have the way(s). If I won the lottery I'd build a giant pole barn, stock it with a couple of Flexibles and a couple of greyhound scenicruisers and about 20 wrench pullers.
I'm too old to do it myself but I'm not too old to dream about it! Jack
