Title: Change of direction
Post by: solodon on March 29, 2016, 08:53:59 AM
I've been doing a conversion of a MCI MC9 for a couple of years as health and funds allow.  Finances have changed and I'm looking for a "completed" (are they ever?) conversion that I can move into and start full timing in.  While my budget is $25K max, being single I feel that I should be able to get something reasonable.  I want to be confident the bus has been reinsulated.  I know I can ask the owner/seller but what can I look for to be certain?  Seems once the walls and ceiling are in it would be hard to tell.  I've been looking online and found a few that would be good prospects to look at but where else should I look?  Thanks for any help, Don.

Don,

We have several converted buses to choose from in our Bus Conversion Magazine as well as the ones listed on our Classified Ad page. Be sure to check these out too at http://busconversions.com/bcmclassifieds/index.php (http://busconversions.com/bcmclassifieds/index.php)

Also as soon as you are ready to sell your partially completed bus, you can advertise it with us as well for a very reasonable fee.

Gary

And don't forget our friends at BusForSale.com.  They are the leader in used bus sales and have quite a few very nice buses in inventory.  Be sure to check them out at http://www.busforsale.com/home/index.php (http://www.busforsale.com/home/index.php) and give them a call and tell them Gary from BCM sent you.

Gary, Those are the places I started.  I'd like more insulation for occasional stays up north in the winter......short stays but visit anyway.  Otherwise I'd be on a plane to buy your bus.  I really like it.  I'm just starting my search but trying to find a good way to determine if more insulation has been added when I look at a bus.  I'm still looking at some on your listings and will contact owners soon.  Thanks for the information even if that's where I started.

We now have a new pre-owned bus sales connection out by me in Riverside, CA.  They get used buses in all of the time and refurbish them.  Some are converted and some are ready to be converted.  They have some very nice southern buses in stock.  Some even have the Series 60 engine in them. Check them out in our May issue when it comes out or look at some of their buses today at http://transitsales.com/. (http://transitsales.com/.)

Check out these beauties...

$59,900     2002 Nabi 40 http://transitsales.com/40ft-nabi-low-floor/ (http://transitsales.com/40ft-nabi-low-floor/)

$15,000     1995 Van Hool T800 http://transitsales.com/van-hool-t80035/ (http://transitsales.com/van-hool-t80035/)

$25,000     1988 Thomas M98 http://transitsales.com/40ft-thomas-m98/ (http://transitsales.com/40ft-thomas-m98/)

$49,000      1999 New Flyer D-45HF http://transitsales.com/45ft-new-flyer-d-45s/ (http://transitsales.com/45ft-new-flyer-d-45s/)

Personally, the re insulation issue wouldn't be primary for me. Interior layout and workmanship of conversion, body corrosion, and mechanical condition should be the main concern. You can always add extra heating. Especially in your price point.
