Title: MCI 12 Info
Post by: jmblake on February 24, 2016, 02:50:19 PM
Does anyone have a MCI 12 parts book with a series 50? I called MCI today to try and round up some part # for my engine switch and MCI told me they never offered a series 50 in a 12 ??? I was looking for a charge air cooler # and the pully for the engine that goes to the fan because I still have my over the road air and would like to keep it if posible. Any help is appreciated. Jason

Thats what I thought, but he claimed it was never a option in the 12 only the 6V92 and 8V92 ??? He claimed some one must of changed them to a series 50, It seems like parts guys any more don't want to search for things they want you to give them the part # then they can go get it >:(

My experience has been that a lot of them want *you* to give them the part number and then they go get it ...

When I was doing crash estimates for motorcycles I would pencil write a list and fax it to 3 Harley Davidson dealers...they would do my "paper work" and the adjuster would pay me $70-$100 :) and storage fees too :)

I can send you what I have on the engine from my manual.  The book doesn't have as much information about Series 50 as it does about 6V92, but the Series 50 is in the book.  I can't upload it here, the files are larger than what this site allows.  I can email them to you if you like.

Hmmm, my 1996 has a 6v92. Doesn't the 50 series have longer block than a 6v92?

Strange the 6v92 wasn't offered for highway use after mid 1994 or 1995

Series 50 was offered in Freightliner's FL106 till 2002. When the M2 was brought out, the Series 50 wasn't designed into the new truck. Series 50 is about the same length as the Cummins ISC/ISL. Good Luck, TomC

Didn't the series 50 go out of production in 2004 because they could not meet the emission standards even with the EGR

I'm not sure, as I had some 2005 New Flyer buses with Series 50 in them.  The engines might have been 2004 models though as that is not uncommon.

Maybe because is was a special run of buses (prison transport bus)?
