I'm about to pull the trigger on one stud piloted aluminum rim someone on the club is offering me for a good price, but before I do, I wanted to confirm that indeed, I have stud piloted rims on my 102C3 in this photo:

Scott a lot of stud mount type rims have a proper surface in the stud hole of the wheel that accepts a lug nut having a taper on one side acting as a center and a better seating surface. I cannot zoom in but it looks as though the lug nuts are for a stud mount but again I cannot see the wheel. maybe some wheel pros can be mustered up and zoom in.

It looks to be stud piloted. You can see the hub it's on does not have the "spikes" a hub piloted wheel would use. A better pic would be nice though!

Well, at the moment I'm in McAllen Texas, and the new bus is in Michigan. Hub piloted nuts have the flange washer thingy at the base of the lug nut. My 9 has these. But my 102 does not. Just normal nuts on the studs. I'm like 99% sure they are stud piloted but wanted to hear it from another set of eyes before buying my last two rims.
Don, I have a full set of brand new extended length studs for the entire bus so that I can swap over to Alcoas.

Those are stud piloted looks like on the tag you have the standard nut The C came with 5 severe nuts and 5 standard nuts on each wheel.I showed RJ the nuts on LVMCI C at Quartzsite he thought they were hub pilot nuts on a stud pilot wheel ,they are a item for conversation when mixed like MCI did.
The severe are good lug nuts you don't worry about some idiot running the nut through the wheel and they are supposed to strengthen the wheel center.
FWIW you need to check the lug nuts and be sure they are for Alcoa wheels there is a difference between steel wheel and Alcoa wheels lol over 300 bucks a set for Alcoa inter and outer nuts ;D less than the price of 1 new wheel though.You just need longer studs on the front and tag they sell longer inter nuts for the driver no need for all the pain to change the drivers studs.I just bought 20 longer studs with the back nut for the front, the tag had the longer studs MCI charged over 400 bucks for the longer front studs ??? 700 bucks and don't even have the wheels yet
Yeah, no kidding. Thankfully previous owner supplied me with all the studs and nuts to finish the job brand new in boxes from Mohawk. But, never did find out if they were Alcoa specific. Severe nuts? I'll need to look that up cause I have never heard of them.

Beware that the DOT in some jurisdictions are no longer happy with mixed wheel fasteners...
There was a popular time when on single wheels, half the nuts were stud pilot and half were flanged hub pilot style.
No reason, no arguing, no winning...

Thanks for the FYI. I do like to stay invisible. I've never had DOT bother me in 5 years of fulltiming thankfully. I've had them eye my coach from the left lane tho. Probably wondering about my drivers tag stuck in the retracted position. I'm going to try to deal with that eventually lol

They look like a hub pilot nut but are not they are a 1 piece flange nut not a 2 piece nut they have a taper or ball, some people call them ball socket nuts MCI still sells the nut or did last year they have a greater clamping area than a standard wheel nut

I have only been around steel wheels on trucks, I seriously welcome more info on aluminum truck wheel nuts, and mainly stud pilot and severe style. Also where some brands are a bit better or something I could use a pointer on that, and I'm pouring the next coffee, appreciate it.

Alcoa tech support will supply you with a distributor name and number for the correct nuts for their wheels. If you use Alcoa wheels on the inside dual of a stud pilot wheel it also takes a special inter nut
