MCIBusTalk.com is undergoing a makeover and we need your help. We are looking for contributors to the site, authors if you will. Folks that tell a story well or can write a technical article or just want to share stories of their life in the bus world. Topics can range from how to rebuild a blower to how to cook in a bus going down the road at 55 MPH... Literally anything at all connected to or about buses, bus conversions, travel, life on the road, places we visit, etc... The upcoming revamped site will be incorporating the existing active user forums at mcibustalk.com.
My goal with MCIBusTalk – One Community is to create a space for bus conversion enthusiasts around the globe to meet, get advice, create a space for themselves and to contribute to the community as a whole. We've got some exciting things in store for this new format including the opportunity to create your own blog space, galleries, groups and more.
With all that being said, I have two announcements:
- To give you an idea of the direction we are going, I will be opening up very limited access to a site preview for you to take a look at. This preview will open on January 22nd and will be by invitation only. This Preview site is not complete and is filled with "Placeholder" content. Some of the features will not be working until the 1st. But, if you are interested in helping us test this new concept, please visit us at http://mcibustalk.com (http://mcibustalk.com) and enter your email address in the box where it says "Notify Me When It's Ready". I will contact you with your invitation code in the next day or two with more details about how you can help.
One of the new features on the site is what I call "Guest Blogging". What is Guest Blogging? Guest Blogging is your chance to be either a one-time or ongoing contributor to the new MCIBusTalk – One Community site. If you are interested in finding out more about this great opportunity to share your wisdom with the world and possibly help out a fellow bus-nut or two along the way just visit a temporary site I put together just for people that may wish to contribute at http://paulrobie.com/wp1 (http://paulrobie.com/wp1).
One more note: MCIBusTalk - One Community does not strictly adhere to the "you have to own an MCI rule"... Other buses/owners/converters are welcome as well as we all have many, many things in common, right?
Thanks for taking the time to read this and if I should not have posted it or posted in the wrong section feel free to remove or move... Cheers!
Paul, I think you have an excellent post and many tips are mentioned here about items on the other sites we frequent.
Thanks for sharing the opportunities!, I have seen many veteran bus owners post of their different model and brands in the years they enjoyed being bus owners.
Good luck on the site and thanks for the requirements it really takes.
Floyd
Thanks for the words of encouragement...
When Dave, (Tikvah) and I talked about me taking over the 6 year old MCIBusTalk.com (http://mcibustalk.com) I knew it would be a challange... But the good kind. Trying to just breath new life into the old girl with a rehab.
Kinda like a bus conversion actually when you think about it... Get an idea and try to put it together... You get your bus and have big plans, then you start ripping out what you don't want/need and start putting it all back together again... your way.
Of course you run into hiccups and bumps along the way and possibly someone with more knowledge and experience comes along and gives you a hand or two. But in the end, the goal is to have a usable finished product that you and others can enjoy for years to come...
Anyway, Thanks again for the kind words and, if you know of someone interested in possibly writing an article or two, (or has written something they would like to share) have 'em drop me a line or visit the site... Cheers!
